Sky Broadband warns that a “possible safety issue” has been identified with some of the Power Adaptors that were included with their small On Demand Connector for TV set-top-boxes and the Sky Wireless Booster product, many of which have been given away for free to existing broadband and TV subscribers.
Apparently if the related adapter “feels loose or starts to come apart” while you’re unplugging it from the wall (hopefully with the mains power already switched off!) then you can consider yours to be among the “very small number of units” that have the safety issue. No kidding. Apparently some of the kit was shipped without a screw or two.

Sky suggests that customers who experience this should then check to see if their adapter has “both screws fully inserted“, before encouraging customers NOT to plug the adaptor back in if any of the screws are missing. Customers who do experience the missing screw issue can either hold a séance in the hope that the undead might be able to help you locate it or simply contact Sky directly for a replacement adapter (the screws are tamper proof).
But this all assumes that you’ve been able to remove the device safely and without killing yourself in the process. Sadly Sky are unable to say precisely how many adaptors have been affected.
