UK ISP Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has today tweaked its standard unlimited broadband and phone bundle prices and begun offering the service free for the first 12 months of service (£7.50 thereafter). In addition, customers will get a £100 Marks & Spencers voucher or alternatively the option of a free Samsung GALAXY Tab 4 if they bundle in with a Sky TV service.
As usual the service isn’t completely free because customers, whether new or existing, will also be required to take Sky’s Phone Line Rental for £15.40 per month and not forgetting that all of this comes with a 12 month contract. But of most interest is the fact that the standard broadband price has been reduced from £10 to £7.50 per month (this price use to only be available if you also took a Sky TV package).

On top of that it’s also worth remembering that Sky are still offering their superfast broadband Sky Fibre Unlimited (FTTC) service for £10 per month for the first six months of service (£20 thereafter) and those who take the Sky Sports Bundle + Sky Broadband Unlimited can separately get 24 months of free broadband.

Sadly Sky no longer offers a pre-paid line rental discount, so some may wish to factor that into their comparisons. Sky also offer a 30 day Broadband and Talk Satisfaction Guarantee to new customers, which applies within the first 30 days of all your services being activated (note: refunds apply to subscription charges only – not set-up charges or non-inclusive call charges).
Sky’s deals are currently quite competitive as they’ve been re-adjusted to tackle free BTSport TV and other offers currently being promoted by BT. As usual these discounts only apply to those covered by Sky’s unbundled LLU network or FTTC areas, while the last 5-10% of predominantly rural locations won’t be able to benefit.
