As previously reported new customers who take TalkTalk’s triple-play Plus TV bundle of unlimited broadband, phone and YouView television services will, effective from today, also receive a Free Mobile SIM that includes 100 minutes, 250 texts and 200MB of data per month.
The included SIM, which effectively turns the ISPs Plus TV product into a quad-play bundle by default, is said to be worth £90 and should “cover the needs of the average TalkTalk Mobile customer“. In addition, calls made between family members with mobiles on the same account are free.
At present some 350,000 subscribers take TalkTalk’s O2 based mobile network service and the provider hopes that the new offer will help to boost uptake, which is easier said than done in a market that is already known for being very aggressively competitive. Plus the extra defence against churn certainly won’t hurt.
The standard Plus TV bundle costs £18.50 per month (currently £9.25 for the first 3 months) + £16.70 line rental (reduced to £180.36 if pre-paid for a year in advance) and also includes unlimited usage, download speeds of up to 17Mbps (or £5 for a 38Mbps FTTC upgrade), free Anytime calls to UK landlines + Talk2Go app, a free wireless router, HomeSafe Internet security, a free YouView+ box and a £100 Love2shop Voucher.
