The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has called on everybody to help them identify this year’s short-list for the Internet Hero and Internet Villain awards. Last year’s winner of the Villain gong was Home Secretary Theresa May MP for her continuing efforts to increase Internet snooping.
It’s worth noting that David Davis MP and Tom Watson MP were jointly named as last year’s Internet Hero for their on-going legal action against some of the same Internet snooping laws that the Home Secretary has been pushing, which probably also makes her a popular choice for 2016 too because that battle is far from over.
Nominations can be submitted to the ISPA via email ( admin@ispa.org.uk ) or via twitter ( @ISPAUK ) using the hashtags #InternetHero and #InternetVillain. The deadline to send nominations is Friday 10th June 2016. The winners will then be announced at a gala ISPA Awards ceremony taking place at The Brewery (London) on Thursday 7th July 2016.
