The Pembrokeshire Housing association, which provides over 2,500 homes across the Welsh County, has secured £200,000 of funding from the national UK lottery (Big Lottery Fund) to help upgrade its rural tenants to faster and more affordable broadband connections.
Apparently the 3-year digital inclusion project should begin in April 2017. The new investment will also be used to purchase a van that can help to provide digital access to tenants throughout Pembrokeshire. A number of new staff will also be recruited to run training course that can help to get new users online.
Jayne O’Hara, Housing Manager, said (Western Telegraph):
“Our tenants asked us for support to access affordable broadband and getting online, particularly in rural areas. We are delighted to have been awarded a People and Places Grant offer of £205,432 to enable us to run our ‘Get Connected’ project.”
End.
