ISP Commsworld Opens London Office Ahead of UK Fibre Launch

Saturday, Jun 1st, 2019 (7:13 am) - Score 2,328

Scotland-based business ISP Commsworld, which this year aims to light up over 2,000 km+ of fibre optic cable in a figure of eight around the UK (one of the largest privately funded long distance Optical Core Networks in the country), has moved down south and opened a new office in London ahead of its expansion.

At present Commsworld’s network, which includes 10,000km of metro dark fibre and 2000km+ of long distance fibre, passes through 25 UK towns and cities via 82 Points of Presence (PoPs), 52 exchanges, 26 data centres and they have 130Gbps of peering and transit capacity (1.6Tbps of core optical capacity and 25Tbps of on-net edge port capacity).

The latest move comes shortly after the broadband provider, which has also hooked-up with Cityfibre to harness their existing Dark Fibre network in Edinburgh and Glasgow, reported a 41% increase in annual revenues to break the £20 million mark.

Ricky Nicol, CEO of Commsworld, said:

“Having a base in London is fantastic for us and a major step forward in our bid to cement ourselves as a truly UK-wide organisation.

It means we can meet with our valued customers and partners more easily and efficiently, without the early morning flights or having to schedule many meetings into one day.

It’s an incredibly exciting time for our business and this move represents the next step on our journey.

We’ve invested millions to ensure our network is market-leading and continually growing and being able to sell and share this from a new base in London is very powerful.”

The provider will now use their new London base to encourage other ISPs to utilise their “ultra-fast carrier network.”
