Gigabit broadband ISP Community Fibre, which is rolling out FTTH services to over 500,000 premises across London by 2022, looks set to add real-time network performance, availability and security insights by adopting Kentik‘s SaaS analytics platform.
The announcement states that CF will initially leverage the Kentik platform for three key use cases. Firstly, the capacity planning insights could allow the ISP to analyse, monitor, and adjust to network capacity patterns as its broadband demands scale up.
Secondly, peering analytics will provide granular visibility for the ISP to see where network traffic is coming and going to/from, while also potentially unlocking more cost-effective connectivity for the ISP.
Finally, the platform adds some degree of extra protection against malicious Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, which can slow network performance or even cause service outages for end subscribers.
Neil Heffernan, COO of Community Fibre, said:
“While a big part of being able to deliver on our full-fibre promise requires a physical shift from copper to fibre optic cables, another critical part of the transition relies on us maintaining reliable, scalable network infrastructure to sustain the level of availability and performance needed for Gigabit-broadband speeds.
With Kentik’s analytics, we now have a real-time, big-picture view of network traffic across our entire operations footprint, and our teams can drill down into any potential network issue in just a few seconds to ensure faster, always-on services for our customers.”
End.
