UK ISP Glide (Glide Business, Glide Student, Glide Residential and Glide Shared Living), which has an ambition to cover 200,000 premises by the end of 2020 (mostly fibre optic), has appointed Richard Jeffares to be its new Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in order to help lead the provider forward.
Richard is somewhat of an industry veteran with 25 years of experience under his belt in the finance, internet and infrastructure sectors (e.g. he formerly worked for UK Broadband Ltd., Ultrafast Fibre (New Zealand) and Collinear Networks (USA)).
Glide hopes that Richard will be able to harness his global experience of delivering scalable fibre infrastructure for Tier1 carriers in order to help them grow.
Richard Jeffares said:
“This is truly an exciting time for Glide customers and the wider UK fibre infrastructure industry. I am confident that our team will continue to grow our fibre footprint rapidly as the UK broadband market undergoes a period of seismic change. I am excited to be joining the Glide Group with such a broad range of end markets and look forward to helping our team deliver a superior customer experience to our UK and European customers.”
At present Glide claims to have its own national “full fibre” network, which they say can reach over 100,000 premises. The provider tends to focus on connecting student and built-to-rent accommodation, shared HMO living and business parks etc.
