Customers of Vodafone’s mobile network are being informed that they will not be charged for any data (mobile broadband) consumed while visiting or using websites and online services for the National Health Services (NHS), which they said includes subscribers to VOXI and TalkMobile.
A spokesperson for Vodafone said, “Free access to these services will be available for as long as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) remains prevalent in the UK. While many Vodafone customers are already using our unlimited data plans, we want all our customers to be able to access these NHS online services without having to worry about data charges. Phone calls to NHS 111 are already free to use across all providers.”
The move is a fairly easy one for Vodafone to implement since website based traffic from the NHS is unlikely to have any kind of big impact on their network capacity. It will be interesting to see if any other operators follow by Vodafone’s example.
Sounds like King Julian (Madagascar) giving away his crown:
“Oh no, I couldn’t take this. It means so much to you”.
“Don’t worry, I have a bigger one”.
