Customers of UK broadband ISP BT, specifically those taking their YouView (IPTV) powered Pay TV service, may like to know that a new software update has just been released – (Manufacturer software: v32.45.0 and Component software: v3.6.190) – that makes the new BritBox streaming service and content app available them.
The new streaming service carries popular British TV shows (from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5) and, after initially launching in the USA and Canada, it recently became commercially available in the UK. Subscribers normally pay £5.99 a month for access (after a free 30 day trial) to what is essentially a historical archive of TV shows. By comparison the BBC’s iPlayer and ITV’s Hub usually only make catch-up content available for a limited period of time.
YouView has already released the app for their ordinary retail set-top-boxes but this has now been expanded to include BT TV’s range of custom boxes and software, including the DTR-T2100, T2200 and T4000 based units. The software release began yesterday and is phased, which means that some customers will get it before others.
What about the BT retail boxes?
The Facts, I’d imagine they’ll follow the route that subscription boxes take. I have 3 boxes here on a BT subscription and 1 that sits on my Virgin connection, and with the exception of the Nowtv channels in the guide and the presence of the BT player, everything else is identical.
I have got it on my Youview BT TV box already
Hi I have a DTRT4000 BOX bt box and i cant seem to get the latest software upgrade. I have several times done a manual software update and it keeps saying the box is up to date. I’m still on 32.43.0
Is there any way to get this update in order to get britbox many thanks Clive
