The consumer broadband division of UK ISP Triangle Networks, known as Fibrehop, has today confirmed that they’ll soon become available to homes across CityFibre’s 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Weston-Super-Mare, Bath, Swindon, Leicester and Plymouth.
Fibrehop, which went live alongside other ISPs during February 2021 (here), was initially only made available to potential customers covered by CityFibre’s new network in Milton Keynes. But the new expansion means that residents in Cheltenham and Gloucester should join them in the “coming months“, with Swindon, Leicester, Weston-Super-Mare Bath, and Plymouth following “later in the year.”
The new network is also being supported by various other ISPs, such as Vodafone (Gigafast Broadband), TalkTalk, Zen Internet, Giganet and more, but they aren’t all live or available in every location yet. CityFibre is investing £4bn to cover around 1 million UK premises with their alternative FTTP network by the end of 2021 (650,000 have already been completed), which will then rise to 8 million across 285 cities, towns and villages – c.30% of the UK (here). The latter target is expected to be “substantially completed” by the end of 2025.
