Communications and IT provider Modern Networks, which is being fuelled by a recent investment from Horizon Capital, has today announced the acquisition of Cambridgeshire-based broadband ISP Bridge Fibre. The latter mostly serves commercial properties and multi-tenant buildings (e.g. on business parks).
The combined business will now operate on a larger scale, serving over 2,500 ISP customers across 1,800 commercial properties and 40 multi-tenanted science and business parks throughout the UK. “Our customers are supported by our growing team of 150 employees working from four sites in Hitchin, Cambridge, Manchester and Guildford,” said the pair.
Bridge Fibre and Modern Networks added that they would continue, at least “initially” to trade under their existing brand names, although “overtime Bridge Fibre will be integrated into Modern Networks.” In addition to all this, Modern Networks has also gobbled up Response IT, which is a London and Surrey based IT managed services provider (MSP).
Matt Reeve, Modern Networks founder and CEO, said:
“Joining forces with Bridge Fibre and Response IT provides Modern Networks with additional breadth and capability across our key service lines.”
The combined business will have a turnover in excess of £20 million.
