Wireless and Fibre ISP Voneus Expand Operations in South Wales

Fixed wireless and full fibre UK broadband ISP Voneus, which is backed by Macquarie Capital and holds a “near term” target to connect 100,000 rural homes to their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network (here), is expanding its operations in South Wales as their rollout ramps-up.

Following on from the provider’s acquisition of Cardigan-based Dyfed IT, Voneus have now expanded their operations in South Wales by moving to larger premises on Jolly Tar Lane (The MacGregor Office Suite) in Carmarthen and launching a recruitment drive to locally recruit sales and engineering roles (a new community engagement team is already partly established).

The move should help to fuel their deployment plans in the region, with builds already underway across parts of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Powys – often providing broadband speeds from 100Mbps to 1Gbps to local residents.

Zoe Day, Head of Community Engagement at Voneus, said:

“The role of the community engagement team is absolutely critical to us.

We know how important it is to embed ourselves in the communities we serve: we don’t want to be a faceless business that only builds and forgets about people.

Our community engagement team will work closely with local residents and businesses to understand their wants and needs as well as build relationships with key organisations including town councils and parish churches.”

The challenge for Voneus is that they’re likely to face growing competition from rival FTTP builds in Wales by Openreach and Ogi (Spectrum Internet).

Do you think the new office will improve the phone answering skills of those in the Dyfed IT / Welsh office? they are consistently rude and dismissive of resolving on-going issues.

Sooner Openreach get fibre installed here the better.

they wont answer the phones any quicker as all the staff will be too busy trying to stop the river from flooding the place
