Bristol-based UK ISP RunFibre have just signed a new fibre optic supply deal with Cherry & White to help support their rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across rural parts of South Gloucestershire. On top of that they’ve agreed a new 3-year framework contract with supplier Altnets.
At present RunFibre is busy deploying across a number of villages in South Gloucestershire (England), such as Hawkesbury Upton, Inglestone Common and surrounding properties. Meanwhile, C&W will be able to supply that project with products from their Gloucestershire warehouse, as well as technical support services from their Labs based in Cheltenham.
C&W itself is an international provider of telecoms and fibre optic solutions, which on the GPON / XGSPON front tends to work with a number of familiar brands including Adtran, Calix, CXR and Datacom.

Dave Swanston, CEO of Runfibre, said:
“It gives us great pleasure to make this announcement today, symbolizing our plans for the future by not only securing our supply chain but also a trusted partner that can help us achieve our plans. Having had multiple dealings with Cherry & White previously, I know the level of service they provide and their long history of successful projects only cements this. Therefore, we are really excited about the potential of this partnership, something that will generally change the lives for our customers who live in some of the most Rural locations in our Region.”
As for the generically named supplier ‘Altnets’, that contract will see them fuelling RunFibre’s roll out by supplying telecoms tooling and equipment such as fusion splicers, testers, blowing machines and of course passive infrastructure.
