Sky UK Offers a Merry Christmas with Free Calls, Data and Movies

Thursday, Dec 9th, 2021 (7:24 am) - Score 2,160
sky broadband uk tv 2020

It’s that time of year again when Sky’s various UK services (Sky Broadband, Sky Mobile, Sky TV etc.) give their existing customers some early Christmas presents, which typically take the form of various gifts, such as “free” movies, Premier League football matches, free mobile data (mobile broadband), and free calls.

Naturally, the presents on offer to existing customers will vary depending upon what services you take from Sky, which for example means that the gifts for Sky TV customers can’t be taken by those who only have Sky Broadband and Talk etc.

Sky typically does this sort of promotion every year, and it’s always nice to see, although at the same time we do tend to take the word “free” with a pinch of salt because you’ll often still be paying the same underlying monthly subscription as you always were.

Sky’s Christmas Presents for 2021

A Sky Store Christmas movie to watch and keep:
Families can exercise their vocal chords with Sing, a true family must-watch. Available to download or stream time and time again from Sky Store, it’s completely free for Sky TV and Broadband customers, from 8th – 31st December.

Sky Original films on Sky Showcase:
Grab the popcorn and a blanket and enjoy four must watch movies on Sky Showcase this festive season. On 27 and 28 December, set a reminder for comedy Blithe Spirit, family friendly Riverdance: The Animated Adventure, Academy Award winner Promising Young Woman and action-packed SAS: Red Notice. Available for Sky TV customers.

Must-watch sporting fixtures on Sky Showcase:
Football fans can enjoy a bumper Boxing Day with three epic fixtures. Kick off at lunchtime with the Scottish Premiership clash St Johnstone vs Celtic (12:30), followed by the English Football League Barnsley v Stoke City (15:00), before finishing the day with Premier League Aston Villa v Chelsea (17:30). The following day, (Monday 27 December), tune in to all the action for PDC World Darts Championships. Available for Sky TV customers.

Sky Talk:
Don’t let distance get in the way, Sky Talk customers can connect with friends and family with free calls to UK and International landlines and mobiles, all day long on Christmas Day.

Sky Mobile:
If there’s not enough seats around the dinner table, or loved ones are elsewhere, why not host a joint present opening session using a video call, with free Sky Mobile data for customers all day on 25th and 26th December.

Nice … now if only they can fix their SkyQ On Demand service so it again works with ISP’s other than Sky’s then we can all have a Merry Christmas

My ISP, BT broadband is working fine with SkyQ On Demand, I wasn’t aware there were issues.

All I can say is that I’ve never experienced any issues or problems with on demand and don’t use Sky as my ISP. I’m not saying others aren’t having problems but whether its a Sky issue‍♂️

I’ve had Sky Q for years and its always been on Virgin Media. No issues here.

Actually Virgin moaned lots that we are amongst their top uk bandwidth consumers ~ 2016 when my missus was binge watching game of thrones when pregnant.

just checking now I’m seeing over 150GB a day of traffic to the sky q box.

The Sky Q box occasionally locks or shows a blank screen requiring a reboot, & has issues like blended rewind, other than that it competes well against the apps on the tv and Apple TV. the Apple TV shows a better picture, but sky q does dolby digital plus to my vex-922 where apple tops out at dolby digital.

Problems with 3rd party IPSs are rare. Recent temporary issues with VM or Vodafone, for example, are fixable with a hardwire whilst a WiFi solution is sought and released via SW update

Speaking as a Sky Q customer (VM02 M350 broadband) I have todate had no problems whatsoever with any Sky Q services whilst using VMO2 (since October 27th).
