Business focused UK ISP and communications provider FluidOne has today announced the acquisition of SAS Global Communications, a provider of SD-WAN-enabled global hybrid networks, to help enhance its own service offering to mid-market and enterprise customers.
The acquisition of SAS builds on the prior acquisition of PSU Business Technology (PSU) in October 2020, that included skills in IT Managed Services and Unified Communications, and the investment in Cyber Security Associates Ltd (CSA) in November 2020, a dedicated cyber security consultancy and managed services specialist. Overall, this has created a £60m revenue group with 240 staff serving 1,300 customers and resellers.
The CEO of FluidOne, Russell Horton, said: “I have known Colin Mattey, the Chairman of SAS, for a number of years and knew of the quality of the business, particularly in multi-national SD-WAN deployments and their unique network monitoring and management portal developed in-house.”

“Both businesses have services that will benefit each other’s customers, and we have already started working together on joint opportunities. I look forward to working with the management team and staff at SAS, and I am excited at the opportunities that our combined capabilities give to support our ambitious growth plans and to serve our customers.”
FluidOne certainly seem to be very business focussed, in that their sales team make it almost impossible to order products from them (see https://www.mythic-beasts.com/blog/2020/09/18/ipv4-ipv6-transit-in-he-fremont-2/ for an example of what I mean). After a few chaser emails to my “sales consultant” I gave up. I guess they must have some customers, but…
Correct, Fluidone are business only and won’t sell to residential customers.
As for being able to order online, it’s pretty common for smaller/niche providers to not offer this and only take orders over the phone. Which from their PoV is understandable given their relatively small customer base and the associated costs with setting up online ordering systems.
FluidOne do have a online ordering portal for partners.

Indeed — in this instance I wasn’t looking to become a residential customer, but I did need a price for a pair of bonded lines. Sadly a month of emails and phone calls resulted in lots of promises for a quotation which turned out to be a load of hot air.
Hi Ben,
I’m sorry if you had a poor experience with Fluidone. It sounds like you are already a business customer of ours?
Please email me the details and i will make sure we give you a better service.
