Little-known ISP Open Fibre, which for the past few years has been selling broadband packages in Hull via MS3′s new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) broadband network, has extended their agreement so that they can now serve those being covered by the latest network expansion across the North East of England.
MS3 started rolling out their new open-access (wholesale) full fibre network to premises in North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire a year ago. The operator ultimately aims to cover 500,000 UK premises by around 2026. Some of the first locations to benefit from this expansion, beyond existing areas of Hull, have included Scunthorpe, Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Scunthorpe etc.
Residential customers on Open Fibre can expect to pay from £30 per month for a 100Mbps (symmetric) package with a router and free setup, which rises to just £40 for their top 1000Mbps plan.

Ben Chetham, MD of Open Fibre, said:
“With the cost-of-living crisis affecting our local community, it’s vitally important that broadband remains accessible to everyone. Internet access isn’t just a nicety, it’s an essential utility.
Open Fibre gives people and businesses the choice of a Hull-based, community-focused broadband provider operating on a proven, trusted and local network operated by MS3.”
End.
In semi-related news, I wonder what’s happened with MS3’s build in Grimsby?
I received an MS3 flyer through my door in September last year, informing me that work was about to begin in four weeks time. I got very excited, but all seems to have gone quiet since then. On their website, Cleethorpes (a neighbouring town) is showing as connected, but work doesn’t appear to have started here yet.
I just hope they can get it all finished this year, and finally give us an alternative to Virgin for <100Mbps internet.
They’re live in parts of the city and have active roadworks still, so it’s still happening.
bidb.uk can help here, the coverage map for MS3 is real-time.
Hi Paul, our build is still ongoing in Grimsby and we are working hard to bring connectivity to all of the region! If we have not built our network in your are yet, it shouldn’t be too long before we do!
If you’re interested in our service you can contact us via our website and we will notify you when your area becomes available.
