Alternative network operator Connexin, which is busy rolling out a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across parts of Hull and Yorkshire in England (here), has today revealed that they’ve just connected their 25,000th customer.
The company, which aims to cover 500,000 premises and is currently being backed by an investment of £80 million from PATRIZIA (formerly Whitehlem Capital), expects to complete its initial build around Hull by December 2023. Residential customers of the provider’s unlimited FTTP service tend to pay from £37.50 per month for a speed of 125Mbps (symmetric) on an 18-month term, which rises to £49.99 for their top 1000Mbps tier.
Connexin connected their first customer to the new full fibre network in early January 2022 and they’ve today revealed that their 25,000th customer, Carrie King, had Connexin Fibre installed this week. The milestone was celebrated with a ‘VIP installation’ where Carrie was presented with 12 months of free service to access Connexin’s hyper-fast fibre broadband and a luxury hamper to mark the milestone.

Alex Yeung, Co-Founder and Deputy CEO of Connexin, said:
“It’s fantastic to see such great feedback on the service from our customers. We’re rolling out rapidly and making big moves, connecting our 25,000th customer has been a wonderful team achievement and shows the demand for our service.
This journey is much more than just connecting customers, for Connexin, it’s about investing in our local economy and offering top-tier service alongside the added value of choice in our region.
With many customers preregistered for service, we are rapidly scaling up our build and delivery teams to meet demand. This acceleration means we will complete our Hull build this year whilst in parallel expanding our network footprint into neighbouring rural areas, for example, we just recently connected our first customers in Leven.”
However, we should say that the figure of 25,000 may not be coming entirely from their FTTP base, since Connexin does have different network services from prior years. The latest independent data from Thinkbroadband also only shows them as holding a miniscule level of ‘Ready for Service’ FTTP coverage in Hull. Similarly, most of the active FTTP build we can see in Hull is currently coming from rivals, such as Grain and MS3.
There seems to be some manipulation by the altnets as to number of customers.
Maybe easier to check their accounts for revenue rather than relying on their being honest.
25k customers is impressive for a small isp, would be even more impressive if they where all fttp but as Mark mentioned, their rfs is low.
Still securing the funding is good for them
I’m not sure i believe these numbers to be honest, however if its Total customers connected since going live in hull with their Wireless network, then fair enough..
but i highly doubt they have 25,000 live active customers, even with the overtake of Purebroadband, Wisper Broadband, probably only had about 1,000 customers each at the time… and thats just in hull and surrounding areas…
The numbers don’t make sense so more context could be warranted…
