Civil engineering firm VolkerHighways‘ has announced that their UK telecoms division, which is playing a role in the nationwide deployment of full fibre broadband networks (as well as potentially some 5G network infrastructure), has rebranded to VolkerTelecoms to help “simplify and strengthen the business“.
VolkerTelecoms, which provides a full turnkey solution from exchange to property boundaries, including all civils and fibre works, is currently operational in multiple locations across Southern England – albeit mostly alongside CityFibre (e.g. Bracknell and Maidenhead, Swindon and Slough, and Ipswich). But we do note that CityFibre’s deployment in Swindon has suffered from a few build issues (here).
Since the first project went live in February 2020, VolkerTelecoms states that 1,105,172 metres of trench have been excavated and reinstated, and 187,261 homes have been passed across the projects.
