Alternative broadband provider Airband, which has built both a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) based network to cover rural parts of the Midlands, Cheshire, Oxfordshire, South West England and North Wales, has announced that the company’s recently appointed CEO, Kashif Rahman, has today stepped down from the role.
Just to recap. Kashif Rahman was originally appointed to the role of Managing Director back in May 2024 and in October 2025 he was promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer (here). The change occurred shortly after the provider had gone through a period of restructuring, which resulted in a fair few jobs losses and a switch to focus more on commercialising their existing network (as opposed to new infrastructure build).
However, in an unexpected development, Airband this week confirmed that Kashif Rahman “will be stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 28 April 2026“. The Company thanked Kashif for his “contribution and leadership during his time” and wished him every success in the future. ISPreview understands that this decision was taken for personal reasons.

The provider has previously stated that their network spans a total of “more than 440,000 premises in over 200 communities across 7 counties“ (here), which we were told breaks down as being 175,000 premises via “fibre” (FTTP) and 265,000 premises via wireless (FWA) – all Ready for Service. But they’ve also recently expanded FTTP into off-net areas by partnering with Openreach (here) and have a total of 30,000 customers.

Conceivably it could also be the impending merger with Voneus.
Or wessex internet seeing as both owned by same investors
A lot of CEO changes around the sector again following FY end.
Noticed on companies house this week that Elevate’s (formerly Telcom) CEO has left the business. Also Nasstar, and I’m sure others.
