UK ISP CommunityFibre, which has invested c.£1bn to build a 5Gbps speed full fibre (FTTP) broadband network across 1.342 million homes (inc. 185k businesses within 200 metres of their network) – mostly in London, has temporarily doubled the speed of their £12.50 per month “Essentials” social tariff from 35Mbps to 70Mbps (symmetric).
New customers can currently sign-up to benefit from the double speed promotion on a 12-month term until 11.59am on 6th May 2026. However, despite the provider promoting this as a Social Tariff, it’s worth reminding readers that anybody can join the plan (i.e. you don’t need to be on state benefits and so it’s not strictly a true social tariff).
At just £12.50 per month, it is currently one of the cheapest home broadband packages in the market and is available to residents in big parts of London and the Southeast on its network footprint. The price also includes a wireless router, unlimited usage, free installation and a commitment to no mid-contract price hikes.
