Mobile Operator Three UK Launch New Three Your Way 5G Plans

Mobile operator Three UK has today launched a new range of ‘Three Your Way‘ plans, which allows new customers to choose to pay for their device over a 12, 24 or even 36-month period, as well as to choose one of three, 12 or 24-month Airtime plans, each of which comes with their own range of benefits.

County Broadband Add 5 South Cambridgeshire Villages to FTTP Network

Rural ISP County Broadband, which is working to cover 500,000 premises across the East of England with their new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network by the end of 2027, has today added another 5 villages in South Cambridgeshire to their ongoing network expansion (bringing the total in the county to 18 villages).

A new trial has been launched by telecoms giant BT (EE) and Stratospheric Platforms (SPL) – funded by Innovate UK, which aims to harness High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) aircraft, usually located above commercial air traffic in the Earth’s stratosphere, in order to extend 5G (mobile broadband) coverage into remote rural areas.

The Mayor of London UK, Sadiq Khan, has today claimed that 50% of the capital city (up from 4% in 2017) can now access a full fibre broadband ISP network, which is apparently “thanks to the Mayor’s policies and his work with boroughs and broadband providers“. Openreach has announced that, as part of their plan to retire older analogue UK phone services by December 2025, they will conduct a trial that “responsibly [adjusts] the performance of the remaining analogue services” (i.e. blocking out-bound calls and limiting broadband ISP speeds) to “encourage” customers to upgrade. Network operator CityFibre has announced that their gigabit-capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband ISP network now covers 2.5 million UK premises (up from 2m in September 2022) and 2.2 million of those are considered to be ‘Ready For Service’ (up from 1.8m), which means that residents can place an order with one of their 36 ISPs (up from 30).

BT to Recruit 400 More UK Apprentices and Graduates
