Cityfibre Expand Hull Fibre Optic Network to Help Wireless ISP Connexin

Fibre optic developer Cityfibre has signed a new £0.6m 10-year deal that will see their network in Hull (East Yorkshire, England) being expanded even further to reach 19 hub sites for local “fibre-over-wireless” broadband ISP Connexin.

In a surprise move Ofcom’s Business Connectivity Market Review (BCMR2016) has done a U-turn on its 2012 policy by proposing that rival ISPs, specifically those that provide Leased Lines, should be granted access to BT’s national Dark Fibre network (i.e. un-lit fibre optic lines that have spare capacity for coping with future demand).

UK ISP TalkTalk has posted their latest results for Q1-2015 (calendar), which revealed that the provider added +47k broadband subscribers in the quarter to total 4,283,000 (sharply up from +15k added in Q4 2014).
