Broadband ISP Alncom has announced that they’ve begun the next phase of expanding their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across their home town of Alnwick, which is now working to cover the Barresdale, Windsor Gardens, Cedar Grove and Fairfields areas (parts of these are already live).

Infracapital-backed ISP Fibrus, which is rolling out a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across Northern Ireland and the North of England, has today revealed that their network now covers 300,000 premises (up from 250k in March) and is home to 50,000 customers (up from 36,000).

Belfast-based network operator and broadband ISP Fibrus, which is building a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) network across parts of Northern Ireland and England, has revealed that 44 out of their 110+ strong fleet of vehicles (37%) are now powered by electricity (up from 14 in Dec 2022).

Rural broadband ISP GoFibre (BorderLink) has announced that they’ve entered the building phase of their Government state-aid supported £6.6 million Project Gigabit contract, which was awarded in September 2022 (here), to upgrade more than 4,000 hard-to-reach Teesdale premises in Northern England with 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology (Lot 4.01).

Mobile operator Vodafone has today named some of the first rural towns in the UK to benefit from their planned rollout of 4G and 5G OpenRAN (O-RAN) technology, which is set to reach a total of 2,500 sites by the end of 2027 (here). The named communities have “traditionally struggled to receive good quality … mobile coverage“.
