UK ISP County Broadband, which last year raised £46m to support the rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the rural East of England region, has revealed that so far 10,000 homes and businesses across Essex and Norfolk have pledged an interest to get the service installed in their village.

The Superfast Essex (SFE) project has begun informing rural residents in poorly served areas that completion of Gigaclear’s Phase 3 and Phase 4a contracts to rollout a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network have been delayed yet again, with completion being pushed from July 2020 to December 2021.

The annual Connected Britain Awards 2019 (Total Telecom) were handed out last might to a number of winners in London, which among other things saw several UK broadband ISPs and “full fibre” network projects (Openreach, BT, KCOM, Superfast Essex etc.) pick up awards for their various different efforts.

The UK Government has handed £2.1m to support a bid by the West Essex and East Hertfordshire Digital Innovation Zone and Superfast Essex projects, which will extend superfast broadband to 113 doctors surgeries and 680 homes across the Broxbourne, East Hertfordshire, Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford areas.
