Broadband ISP and TV provider Virgin Media UK (Liberty Global) has just published their latest Q1 2021 results, which saw their network coverage extend to another 80,000 premises (their slowest quarterly build so far) and their internet access base add +38,500 customers (up from +54.7k last quarter) to total 5,458,600.

Broadband ISP Virgin Media is finally moving to develop a fix for a long-running, albeit quite technically niche problem, which severely throttles IPv4 internet traffic – often reducing download speeds to under 20Mbps – when the data packets carry Protocol 41 (i.e. the IPv6 encapsulation / tunnel protocol).

Broadband and TV provider Virgin Media (Liberty Global) has today published their Q2 2020 results, which saw them add +39,200 new UK internet customers in the quarter (up from +8,200 last quarter) to total 5,318,400. At the same time their network coverage grew by 93,000 premises (unchanged).

A number of data (mobile broadband) connected users on Three UK’s 4G mobile network have now reported that their connection has been assigned an IPv6 internet address, as well as the usual IPv4. At present this looks to be a limited customer field-trial, which often comes ahead of a major roll-out.

The latest quarterly update (calendar Q2 2018) from cable ISP Virgin Media (Liberty Global) has revealed that the operator’s UK network has now reached another 118,000 premises (up from 111K added in Q1), while their broadband subscriber base totals 5,166,500 (up by 30K in Q2, which is flat from 31.2K in Q1).
