KC’s roll-out of ‘Lightstream’ superfast broadband technology in East Yorkshire (England), which is dominated by their 350Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP/H) network (with some slower FTTC), is slowly moving outside of Hull and has now reached 350 homes in the small-ish civil parish village of Wawne (Waghen).

The medieval market town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire (England) area is to give locals and visitors access to a free “high-speed” wireless Internet (wifi hotspot) service following a new deal with the local telecoms incumbent KC. Sadly it will only be free to use for the first 20 minutes.

KC’s plan to make their ‘up to’ 350Mbps capable fibre optic (FTTP/C) Lightstream broadband network available to 45,000 premises accross Hull in East Yorkshire (England) could be facing a significant delay after KCOM Group’s latest preliminary results appeared to change the projects timescale.

East Yorkshire ISP KC looks set to become the latest provider to introduce network-level Internet filtering (Parental Controls), which will give all new KC broadband customers the choice (as part of their set-up process) over whether or not to block certain categories of website / content (e.g. porn, dating, social networks, freedom of speech etc.).

Hull-based incumbent telecoms provider KC, which is currently replacing a large portion of its old fixed line broadband and phone network in East Yorkshire (England) with new fibre optic cables, has struck a recycling deal with local scrap metal dealer John Brocklesby Metal Management, which will put its dirty old copper lines to good use (£££).

Telecoms operator KC (KCOM Group), which serves Hull and some other parts of East Yorkshire in England, has confirmed that their superfast 350Mbps capable fibre optic (FTTP/C) Lightstream broadband product has now passed 32,000 homes and businesses with 9,000 customers connected (28% uptake) and more areas confirmed for the future upgrade plan.

MS3 Networks has won provisional approval from Ofcom that would grant the operator Code Powers (making street works easier etc.) in order to help expand their independent and ultra-fast Dark Fibre optic broadband ISP network in Hull (East Yorkshire, England), which is already being used by a number of local businesses and competes with KC’s own FTTP deployment.
