Telecoms operator KC (KCOM Group), which serves Hull and some other parts of East Yorkshire in England, has confirmed that their superfast 350Mbps capable fibre optic (FTTP/C) Lightstream broadband product has now passed 32,000 homes and businesses with 9,000 customers connected (28% uptake) and more areas confirmed for the future upgrade plan.

MS3 Networks has won provisional approval from Ofcom that would grant the operator Code Powers (making street works easier etc.) in order to help expand their independent and ultra-fast Dark Fibre optic broadband ISP network in Hull (East Yorkshire, England), which is already being used by a number of local businesses and competes with KC’s own FTTP deployment.

The study reveals that NGA / superfast broadband (30Mbps+) ISP services are now available to 73% of the country (up from 65% last year) and uptake has surged to 17.5% (up from just 6.5%) or 3.8 million subscribers.
