Last month saw Hull-based UK ISP KCOM unveil a new £100m project to extend the coverage of their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network into new parts of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire (here and here). This week the provider has connected their first customer in Driffield to the new network.

The incumbent broadband ISP for East Yorkshire and Hull, KCOM, has today announced the “first phase” of a major new £100m project to expand the coverage of their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband service beyond their current network area, which will initially reach new parts of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

Last week we reported that alternative network ISP Internetty was preparing to deploy a new Gigabit-capable (1Gbps+) Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband and fixed wireless network to serve UK “rural and semi-urbanised areas.” We now have some details of their rollout plan for Lincolnshire and Staffordshire.

The North Lincolnshire Council (NLC) has revealed that it could spend the £1m grant awarded to it in June 2019 by DEFRA’s Rural Broadband Infrastructure (RBI) scheme on extending “superfast broadband” connectivity around rural industrial estates on the edge of Scunthorpe.

Wireless UK ISP Quickline has announced that their part of the £2.1m Government funded 5G Rural Integrated Testbed (5GRIT) pilot is due to start testing its new network later this month, which will initially aim to bring superfast broadband to holidaymakers across caravan parks in Ingoldmells (Lincolnshire), including Butlins.

Fixed wireless access ISP Quickline (Bigblu) looks set to improve their UK rural broadband network coverage to premises (homes and businesses) across parts of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, which will be achieved by gobbling rival provider JHCS for an undisclosed sum.

Fixed wireless UK ISP Quickline (Bigblu Broadband) has put in a new planning application to install equipment on top of the Church of St Helen in the rural parish of West Keal (Lincolnshire), which could result in around 370 premises within a 10 mile radius gaining access to superfast broadband (30Mbps+) speeds.

Wireless ISP Connexin, which operates superfast broadband networks in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire (England), has confirmed their plan to spend £5 million building a new data centre (CXNDC) in their home city of Hull so as to help it become “one of the UK’s leading smart cities.”

Hull-based Connexin, which operates wireless broadband networks in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire (England), looks set grow after it secured an investment of £10m from Digital Alpha Advisors (DAA). The Lincolnshire County Council in England has recently signed a new Phase 3 roll-out contract with Openreach (BT), which aims to help expand the local coverage of 24Mbps+ capable “superfast broadband” (FTTC/P) services towards 97% of premises. Expect more FTTP.

Fixed wireless broadband ISP Connexin, which operates networks in Hull (East Yorkshire) and Lincolnshire, today claims to have become the “first company in the UK” to trial an Elva-1 PPC-10G with RF Com. This is a 5G style 10Gbps wireless link that could give their network a big boost.
