The clawback spam continues as the Northern Lincs Broadband project confirms that its first roll-out contract, which completed in June 2015 after bringing BT’s “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) network to 92.5% of premises, delivered “savings” of over £1m that will be put back into further expanding coverage.

The Northern Lincs Broadband (NLBB) project has just become the latest Broadband Delivery UK scheme to complete its first contract, which means that BT’s superfast broadband (24Mbps+) services have successfully been put within reach of an additional 31,000 local homes and businesses in North Lincolnshire (England).

ISP Quickline has confirmed that they’ve begun the final deployment phase of their £2,054,000 Government funded superfast wireless broadband pilot in rural North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire (East England), which will deliver Internet speeds of up to 50Mbps and could eventually be deployed around the UK.

A total of three Government supported Phase 2 Broadband Delivery UK contracts have today been signed between BT and the English counties of Wiltshire, Lincolnshire and Central Bedfordshire (inc. Bedford Borough, Luton and Milton Keynes), which will expand the reach of superfast “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) connectivity to many more premises.

The Lincolnshire County Council has rejected an alternative superfast broadband network proposal from a little known ISP called ionNET, which would have used its point-to-point and ‘up to’ 30Mbps capable wireless broadband network to reach rural parts that the local BT and Broadband Delivery UK programme might overlook.

The Onlincolnshire project in the East Midlands of England, which is currently working with BT to roll-out FTTC/P based “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) services to “at least” 89% of all premises in the county by April 2016, appears to have briefly hit a snag with a small EU funding shortfall.

A tiny rural community called Metheringham Fen in Lincolnshire (England’s East Midlands) has complained that their broadband speeds have actually gotten worse since BT is alleged to have upgraded the local connectivity. The situation has forced some locals to shell out on an expensive and restrictive Satellite solution instead.
