KCOM Target Full Fibre for 10,000 North Lincolnshire Premises

UK ISP KCOM, which is investing a further £100m to extend the availability of their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, have today confirmed the next phase of their expansion. This will see them cross the Humber Bridge to cover 10,000 properties in North Lincolnshire for the first time.

The announcement won’t come as much of a surprise to our readers because a rival operator, InternetTY, has already revealed that they were rubbing up against engineers from KCOM in North Lincolnshire, which were overbuilding some of their own full fibre network in the town of Barton-Upon-Humber (here).

Officially though KCOM has so far restricted their expansion activity to East Yorkshire and thus kept north of the Humber, but all that has now changed. As expected, the first locations to be targeted in North Lincs will be in the large towns of Barton-Upon-Humber and Brigg.

On top of that the operator has also signalled its willingness to build full fibre infrastructure in smaller communities, such as Barrow Upon Humber and Goxhill, provided “there is demonstrable demand.”

The operator said they would announce further North Lincolnshire destinations later this year.
