Hull-based UK ISP KCOM, which last week introduced some changes to help their broadband and phone customers through the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) crisis (here), has this week gone one step further and committed NOT to disconnect subscribers for non-payment of bills.
On top of that the provider has pledged not to charge any late payment fees. “From today we will not be disconnecting anyone for non-payment of bills, and we will not be charging any late payment fees. We will review this at the end of each month and notify customers well in advance of any changes in this approach,” said KCOM on Monday.
The move is designed to help protect those who over the past few weeks may have suddenly found themselves jobless and struggling to pay their bills. “Our priority is helping us all get through this difficult time and we are working hard to make sure our services operate reliably and remain accessible to everyone,” said the operator.
Unlike Virgin Media who disconnects you because they took the money early and I hadn’t been paid yet.
At least Sky just adds it to your next bill
Coronavirus Update. To help you work from home Wisper Broadband have temporarily lifted all data caps for this month. Stay virus free. Stay indoors.
This is very magnanimous of them. More providers should do this.
I believe many are but aren’t shouting about it because it would encourage people who are still working or businesses still trading to not pay.
