Broadband ISP Grain to Rollout its UK Full Fibre Network into Bury

Alternative network operator Grain (Grain Connect) has confirmed that they’re planning to expand their gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network into the Greater Manchester (England) town of Bury. The UK network currently covers over 220,000 premises and connects 30,000 customers.

Broadband and mobile operator Virgin Media and O2 (VMO2) has today announced that around 1,500 employees (i.e. customer service, commercial and legal teams) are set to move to their new North West HQ in late 2025, which is to be based out of the Island (pictured) building – a net zero carbon workspace in central Manchester.

The operator had been deploying large metal masts for their fibre-fed fixed wireless broadband network, which has recently attracted protests.
