Alternative network builder Freedom Fibre (FF), which is being supported by UK ISP partner TalkTalk (here) and is busy building a new 10Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across semi-rural parts of North England, has just invested another £5m to help extend their network into Shropshire.

The Shropshire County Council (SCC) in England has this week allocated another £1 million (total so far of £2m) to help boost the value of the Government’s local rural gigabit broadband vouchers, which now offers grants worth up to £4,000 (homes) or £7,000 (small businesses) to cover the costs of installing such a network.

Shrewsbury-based ISP SWS Broadband (RBBS – Rural Broadband Solutions), which serves premises in rural parts of Shropshire (England) and Wales with their fixed wireless and full fibre networks, has today acquired Cadence Networks Limited for an undisclosed sum to support their UK expansion plans.

Network builder FullFibre Limited, which is working to deploy their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across “at least” 500,000 premises by 2025, has today responded to the COP26 event by pledging to plant a tree for every new order placed for their service via Fibre Heroes.

Network builder FullFibre Limited has today named the next batch of 19 towns in England to benefit from their rollout of a new gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network, which recently hit a build rate of 15,000 UK premises per month and aims to cover “at least” 500,000 premises by 2025.

Shropshire-based UK ISP Exascale, which is building a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across parts of the West Midlands, has agreed a long-term strategic partnership with civil engineering firm ClearComm to construct a new diverse ducted Dark Fibre metro network in Telford & Wrekin.

The UK Government has just launched several new Public Reviews at once, this time for Shropshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Suffolk and Norfolk in England, which aims to identify any existing or planned commercial coverage of gigabit broadband ISP networks. Such reviews help to establish the areas where public investment may be needed.

Shropshire-based UK ISP Exascale has confirmed that the first customers on their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the large West Midlands market town of West Bromwich have finally started to connect, which follows the start of their local rollout (here) in February 2021.

Residents on a relatively new build homes development in the rural Shropshire (England) market town of Shifnal have been left confused after Openreach, which had been deploying a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the area, suddenly abandoned the build due to a “system error” and cost issues.

Worcestershire-based rural broadband ISP Airband, which aspires to deploy their ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to cover 500,000 premises by the end of 2025 (here), has signed a new long-term partnership with civil engineering firm Light Source to help support the build. Starting in Shropshire.
