Internet provider SWS Broadband (Rural Broadband Solutions Plc), which serves homes in rural parts of Shropshire (England) and Wales via both wireless and full fibre (FTTP) connectivity, has today announced they’ve taken on 16 members of staff and moved to a new office location in Shrewsbury ahead of a big rollout.
The company revealed last year that their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network build would aim to cover 100,000 remote premises, focusing on small towns around Shropshire and Wales “where full fibre connectivity is currently unavailable”. The first two villages to benefit from this work were Stiperstones and Woolston (previously covered by SWS’ wireless access network), which were followed by Habberley and Cardington.
However, we’re expecting this deployment to ramp-up significantly over the next year, which will require more staff. As a result, SWS has already taken on a further 16 members of staff, including various telecoms industry professionals and those who will be given training by SWS for their new careers.

Rachel Corner, SWS Sales Director, said:
“While we are eager to advance new projects, adopting a measured approach to delivering our strategic goals is key to sustained business growth. In addition, we don’t want to lose sight of SWS’s emphasis on a happy, dedicated workforce and the provision of excellent customer service the latter of which, for example, is reflected in our 100 percent 5/5 Trust Pilot review status.
Apart from one person, the new members of staff have all been recruited from within Shropshire, some of whom have made a complete career change. We will support them with tailored on-the-job training and look forward to their contributions at what is an exciting and important stage in SWS Broadband’s development.”
Customers usually pay from £36 per month for an unlimited 150Mbps (symmetric) service, and that rises to £56 per month for their top 900Mbps tier.
