Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has launched a new Christmas promotion that offers 6 months free unlimited broadband and free weekend calls to both new customers and existing Sky TV subscribers, after which the price will return to just £10 a month (£7.50 with Sky TV).

Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has today launched a new promotion that offers to bundle its superfast broadband (Sky Fibre Unlimited) with free weekend calls at half price for the first 3 months of service (i.e. £10 per month instead of £20). The offer can also be combined with a new or existing Sky TV service.

Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has become one of the first ISPs to launch a discount Christmas bundle of 38Mbps capable superfast broadband (Sky Fibre Unlimited) with TV and free weekend calls. The package also includes a free Sky Hub (wireless router), free Sky+HD TV box (2TB storage), £25 M&S voucher, free installation and free activation.

Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has today become the UK’s 3rd largest ISP after its latest results to 30th September 2012 (Q3) saw them add +102,000 new quarterly broadband subscribers to reach a total of 4,103,000 (jumping TalkTalk’s 4,047,000). But growth itself was sharply down from +138k in Q2 and +212k in Q1.

Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has today officially announced the launch of its new Sky Hub router, which has been “designed and built by Sky’s in-house engineering team” and delivers improved wireless speeds and range by automatically scanning for and selecting the best available wifi channel.

Sky Broadband (BSkyB) customers will soon be able to get their hands on the new Sky Hub (SR101) wireless router, which will feature a number of new features like Smart Signal Wireless technology and a uniquely branded design. Sadly existing members will have to pay extra for it. Details follow.

The communications regulator, Ofcom, has today revealed its latest customer complaints data for the UK’s largest fixed line broadband and mobile providers (those with a market share of +4%), which covers the second quarter (Q2-2012). Happily ISP complaints saw a sharp fall but TalkTalk remains the provider with most complaints.

In the battle for celebrity endorsements Virgin Media, with a collection that spans from Uma Thurman to Mo Fareh, is surely king. Now Sky Broadband hopes to muscle in on the action by hiring action movie star Bruce Willis to help explain why, in a way that only he can, having Sky’s truly “unlimited” broadband is better than a restricted service.

The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a press advert for Sky’s (Sky Store) movie rental service after rival ISP BT complained that it would have required a significantly faster internet connection than Sky Broadband could deliver in order to meet their “available instantly” promise.

Sky Broadband (BSkyB) has announced that its unbundled (LLU) network of UK telephone exchanges has hit the 2,000 mark, which means that their Unlimited Broadband service is now available to 82% of households but the roll-out won’t stop there. Sky has today set itself an even bigger target.

The results from 1068 respondents to ISPreview.co.uk’s latest monthly web-based survey has revealed that 63.6% would never return to a broadband ISP that had previously caused them problems and 78.3% are now unwilling to sacrifice quality for a cheaper price.
