Cityfibre has today confirmed that they intend to invest £22m in order to deploy a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset (England), with the build itself starting in January 2021.

The troubled Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) project faced heavy criticism yesterday after UK Government MPs in the House of Commons highlighted on-going delays in awarding the new Phase 2 rollout contract(s), which aim to extend “superfast broadband” into more rural areas. But Christmas may bring a resolution.

The historic Somerset (England) market town of Bridgwater, which is home to a population of over 41,000 people, has today become the latest location to be added to ISP Jurassic Fibre’s on-going UK rollout list for their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network.

Fibre optic ISP Truespeed, which is deploying a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across rural parts of South West England, has today introduced a series of new packages that, among other things, push the provider’s top median average speeds to 900Mbps (gigabit class).

Full fibre UK broadband ISP Jurassic Fibre has today announced that their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, which is supported by an investment of £250m from Fern Trading Limited, is being extended again to reach Barnstaple, Wellington, West Hill and Marsh Green in Devon and Somerset (England).

Full fibre UK broadband ISP Jurassic Fibre, which plans to cover 350,000 premises with a 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in South West England (here and here), has confirmed that they’ll start to expand outside of Devon and into Somerset, with Honiton and Taunton being the next two areas to benefit.

Apparently you can never have too many alternative full fibre broadband ISP networks, so here are two more with separate plans to expand across the United Kingdom in the near future – Westnetworks Innovations (WestWiFi) and FACTCO (Ecodial). Both providers already have some presence in the market.

New UK operator Full Fibre Limited, which last year started building a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband network (here) – aimed at “rural and semi-urban areas” around Devon, Surrey, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, has done a new video to showcase their progress in Shrewsbury.

The troubled Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) project has signed two extension contracts with UK ISP Airband and telecoms giant BT (Openreach), which will see a further 8,200 premises gaining access to faster “fibre broadband” (mostly full fibre FTTP) connections by the end of 2021.
