Full fibre UK broadband ISP Jurassic Fibre has today announced that their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, which is supported by an investment of £250m from Fern Trading Limited, is being extended again to reach Barnstaple, Wellington, West Hill and Marsh Green in Devon and Somerset (England).
At present JF’s network, which only entered into its deployment phase late last year, has an ambition to cover 350,000 premises across South West England over the next few years (here and here) and they’ve already covered 20,000 premises (up sharply from 14,000 at the end of September 2020).
Construction has also recently started in Yeovil and Taunton, where the first homes to be completed are expected to be released to service to residents and businesses by early next year.
Michael Maltby, CEO and Founder of Jurassic Fibre, said:
“Our broadband roll-out in the South West has gathered pace this year, as evidenced by our plans to deliver state of the art broadband to 4 more areas. In little more than a year, our network now extends over 100km from Barnstaple in North Devon through the towns and villages of East Devon to Yeovil in South Somerset.
The events of 2020 have emphasised the importance of digital connectivity, for homes and businesses, with fast and reliable broadband now needed more than ever for remote working, home-schooling and connecting with others.
By rapidly expanding our network, to areas across Devon and Somerset, we aim to support the vitality and growth of the region’s economy; enabling rural areas to become viable alternatives to the big cities.”
Customers typically pay from £25 per month (first 2 months free) for an unlimited 30Mbps (10Mbps upload) package on JF and up to £95 for their top 950Mbps (200Mbps upload) tier for a short monthly rolling contract. Standard installation is free, although some “non-standard” installs may cost £250.
