The Government’s Digital Economy Minister, Ed Vaizey, has finally gone on record to confirm that their £150 million Mobile Infrastructure Project (MIP), which was set-up to improve mobile phone network coverage in areas where there is currently none, has failed.

The national UK telecoms regulator has decided to drop its own-initiative investigation into Vodafone’s billing procedures after they found that the mobile operator was behaving itself, although they are continuing to investigate how the operator handles customer complaints.

UK ISP TalkTalk has today announced that they’ve joined ten other broadband and mobile providers in signing Ofcom’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Nuisance Calls, which commits them to develop new technical measures for “reducing the impact of unlawful nuisance calls on consumers“.

Mobile operator Vodafone UK has today published their results to the end of last year (financial Q3 15/16), which saw their fixed line broadband customers increase by +14k to total 89,000 (up from +5k added in the previous quarter) and 4G cover reach 79% of the UK (86% using Ofcom’s definition) with 6.3 million subscribers.

The UK telecoms regulatory has today published a new study of consumer satisfaction with fixed line broadband, phone, pay TV and mobile providers, which surveyed thousands of consumers between July and September 2015 to reveal that Sky Broadband is the highest rated of all the big ISPs.

RootMetrics have today published their latest H2 2015 report into the Mobile Broadband (3G and 4G) performance of EE, Three UK, Vodafone and O2 across nine of the United Kingdom’s primary cities, which reveals that EE is still the fastest overall provider.. but not in all of the cities.

The manager of Vodafone’s fixed line network, Sean Teggart, claims that 80% of incidents involving broken fibre optic cables on their network are attributable to UK street works, while the rest can be caused by everything from shotgun wielding farmers to cable hungry rats.

Vodafone has today reported their latest Q3 2015 results (calendar), which reveals that the new fixed broadband service has grown ever so slightly to reach 75,000 customers (up by +5K net adds vs +4K in Q2). Meanwhile their 4G UK population coverage has reached 75% (82% by Ofcom’s definition).

The UK telecoms regulator has today decided to launch a wider investigation after Vodafone complained that BTOpenreach had failed to meet its obligations to them by both “delaying provision” of its Ethernet (high-capacity data line) services without their consent and then “failing to compensate“.

Vodafone has said that their security is “fundamentally effective” after they became the latest major UK telecoms operator after TalkTalk to be hit by a breach, which between 28th and 29th October 2015 resulted in 1,827 customers having their accounts accessed by cyber criminals.
