CityFibre has today announced that their £29m rollout of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across the South Yorkshire town of Rotherham has finally reached the stage of connecting its first customers, which are being supported by local ISP partner Pure Broadband (more providers will follow).

Bath-based UK ISP brsk has today named the first locations in West Yorkshire (England) to benefit from their new gigabit-capable “open access” Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network, which has already begun its civil engineering phase, and they’ve even managed to connect their first customer.

The B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) project, which is deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across rural premises in several English counties, has revealed that they’ve now covered around 17,000 premises (8,600 connected customers) and are trialling a new £5 Connect Plus tariff.
