ISP EE (BT) has announced that they are to increase the price of UK and international calls for their fixed line home broadband and phone (line rental) subscribers from 22nd January 2019. On top of that they’ll also introduce a new charge for late payment, effective from 23rd March 2019.
The aforementioned increases focus on “out of bundle calls” (e.g.. if you have a free weekend calls plan then only those calls made outside of the free period are charged, with some exceptions). Meanwhile customers who pay by cash, cheque or credit/debit card will now also be charged a £4 late payment fee if EE hasn’t received payment within 15 days of their bill date.
| Call charge | Current | New |
| UK landline connection charge | 21p | 23p |
| UK mobile connection charge | 21p | 23p |
| UK landline call charge | 13.5p | 15.5p |
| UK mobile call charge | 16p | 18p |
| International connection charge | 21p | 23p |
In a brief statement EE said, “We need to increase the cost of our out of bundle charges to be able to continue to invest in the services we provide to our customers. We know a price rise is not ideal, that’s why we’ve tried to keep the increase to a small amount where possible.”
