Cityfibre Sign £40m Hexatronic Deal to Supply UK Fibre Optic Rollout
Network builder Cityfibre, which is working to roll-out a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover 5 million UK premises by the end of 2024, has today signed a new £40m agreement with Hexatronic to supply the necessary passive fibre optic solutions for their deployment.
The framework supply agreement builds on last year’s letter of intent between the two companies, which itself was worth £6m. Under the expanded arrangement Hexatronic will now provide Cityfibre with everything from fibre optic cables and micro ducts to connection boxes and aerial nodes.
The deal appears to cater for Phase One (£500m) of Cityfibre’s wider £2.5bn project (details), which aims to cover around 1 million premises across 10 UK cities and large towns by the end of 2021. Vodafone will supply the service to consumers.

OMG! I would have thought that a company as mature as CityFibre would have conducted due diligence on their suppliers. This bunch pretend to bring in high quality products from Scandinavia, but supply poor quality rubbish from China and Africa. Even then, it’s late!
Rainford Solutions supplies enclosures to Hexatronic. Based in North West England. Enclosures made out of 1.4003 stainless steel. So not everything comes from abroad. They are aware that previous supplies of enclosures were not made to last.
Rest assured Cityfibre have a very strict evaluation process for the aggressive rollout they are planning. This will certainly prevent the supply of low grade product deviations from specification.

Cityfibre Cables/splitters are not of Chinese origin, only terminated in China and the UK Under strict procedures. Both run to Hexatronics strict quality controls.
