ISP iDNET Reduces UK FTTP and SOGEA Broadband Prices
UK ISP iDNET has today announced that they’ve reduced some of the prices across their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and SOGEA (data-only FTTC / VDSL2) based broadband packages, which appears to be occurring at the same time as a subtle company rebrand and a major overhaul of their website.
Just to add. SoGEA is essentially a standalone (naked) broadband service for copper lines, which enables customers to take a data-only connection without needing a traditional phone (voice) service to be taken. Below we’ll only cover the SOGEA and FTTP packages, but you can still take FTTC (instead of SOGEA) with a traditional phone service too, albeit at an extra cost.
Otherwise, all packages include unlimited usage, a Static IP address (IPv4 Address & Static IPv6 block (native/48)) and UK based support. The FTTP packages all come with a 12-month minimum contract term, while their FTTC (VDSL2) / SOGEA options only attach a 1-month term. Sadly, iDNET do not bundle a free router.

Miriam Hyett, iDNET’s Customer Relationship Manager, said: “We strive to stay fresh and as competitive as possible without compromising on quality. With this in mind, we’ve given our website a face lift and while other service providers are increasing their prices, we have reduced our SoGEA and FTTP pricing.”

One thing to point out above is that iDNET are promoting maximum connection speeds, rather than the advertising watchdog’s recommend use of an average (median) speed as recorded at peak time. For example, most 1Gbps FTTP packages are generally reported with an average download of 900Mbps+ rather than 1000Mbps.

hi there, any ideas of when FTTP is coming to Leek? i have been wondering because although we are not part of the actual Stoke-on-Trent city, we are part of them with our postcode (ST). does this mean leek will be put on hold with FTTP with stoke or does that not include us?

Just tried the postcode lookup and failed to get anything to start with as it didn’t like the lack of a space in the postcode… Would be better to get back a warning rather than thinking something is happening 🙂

Yeah they did, VDSL (FTTC) has been 1 month. I think it’s only FTTP that is 12.
