City focused ISP Hyperoptic, which is building a new gigabit-capable FTTP/B broadband network across parts of the UK (mostly for large residential buildings / MDUs and office blocks), will today launch a new “flash sale” that runs until 12th September 2021 and offers some big discounts on their 30Mbps, 50Mbps and 150Mbps packages.

As usual, new customers can choose from either a ‘broadband and phone’ bundle or a ‘broadband-only’ (standalone) service on a 12-month or 24-month minimum contract term. You can also take a “no contract” service (broadband-only), but this is the most expensive option. We note that a one-off connection fee of £29 applies to their slower packages, albeit dropping to £9.99 on their 30Mbps option, and it’s free for 500Mbps and 900Mbps.

All packages come with unlimited usage, 24/7 support, a wireless router and a dynamic IP address or £5 extra per month for a Static IP. Adding a phone (voice) service to their packages will also increase the monthly cost by £2. The promotion code for Hyperoptic’s latest offers continue to be listed as HYPERSUMMER, which you should input during the order process.

Take note that Hyperoptic’s cheapest entry-level 30Mbps plan can only be found if you follow this link (for some reason they don’t include this package on their main public product page). Otherwise, the biggest price reductions this time around apply to their 30Mbps, 50Mbps and 150Mbps tiers (i.e. 500Mbps and 900Mbps are largely unchanged). For example, 50Mbps on a 24-month term has gone from £20 to £15 per month.

NOTE: The 150Mbps and faster tiers have symmetric download and upload speeds.

I’d love to apply. But we’re still at “Installation Approved” many months later 🙁

Yes, I’d love their service, esp with a 2 year discount, but need to move to get it as my home is a semi-detached not a flat, and I think London has been the only place where individual homes have been connected, so far.

Hyperoptic are not very good at updating the availability map we have been on Installation Agreed since around Jan / Feb 2018 – however they put the project (Project Greenland Dock) on hold around June 2018 and the last communication I had from them in October last year they said “Sadly it seems that this site has been declared unserviceable by our deployment team”- just waiting now for Openreach to do the fibre links to the flats so we can finally get fibre broadband as they have already laid the fibre outside all the buildings – hope you are more successful

Big con to have monthly fee for a static IP address. I know other ISPs do the same, or have no mention of it such as three of the biggest, but for anyone with CCTV at home, or some other kit, it should be no more than a once-only fee for a static IP.

Hyperoptic use CGNAT if you don’t pay for a static IP — the monthly fee is essentially for a public IPv4 address (which will be static). IPv6 is unaffected because there’s no shortage.

What Ben said: you don’t get a dynamic IP, it’s CGNAT.
