Broadband ISP and network builder Upp, which is investing £1bn to rollout a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to 1 million UK premises in Eastern England by 2025, has today chosen Emtelle to become their main supplier of fibre optic network kit until March 2026.
Upp’s initial rollout has already begun in several towns across Norfolk and Lincolnshire, with Stamford and Diss being the first to benefit (they’ve also been spotted in Bourne and Market Deeping). Overall, the initial build aims to cover 50 towns (c.300,000 homes) in the two counties by the end of 2022.
Emtelle has now signed a multi-million pound deal to supply Upp with all of its passive infrastructure products (i.e. pre-connectorised blown fibre, cabling and ducted solutions) to help deploy their networks across the East of England over the next five years.

Alex Marshall, Upp Founder and CTIO, said:
“As we continue to accelerate our full-fibre roll out across the East of England, it is paramount to us that we carefully select our supply chain partners based on their commitment to social, environmental and sustainability priorities. Emtelle’s locality to ourselves and its commitment to future proof, sustainable solutions for the roll out of FTTX networks supports our business values and approach to the future of fibre accessibility.”
The operator’s first goal is to reach 30,000 premises by the end of 2021.
