Full Fibre ISP Octaplus Joins Cityfibre’s UK Broadband Network
Broadband ISP and Pay TV provider Octaplus (Octaplus Supercharged), which initially launched via MS3’s gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in East Yorkshire during September (here), has now officially become “available in all locations” across CityFibre’s network where homes are ready for service.
At present Cityfibre is investing £5bn+ to cover up to 8 million premises – across around 285 cities, towns and villages (c.30% of the UK) – with their full fibre network by the end of 2025 (here). So far, the operator has already covered 2 million UK premises – with 1.8m Ready For Service (RFS) via a supporting ISP (here).
However, not all of Cityfibre’s supporting ISPs are available nationally across their network, so it’s nice to see that Octaplus will be available in every location where CityFibre has designated homes as being RFS. Several other ISPs are either already doing this or are in the process of going national with Cityfibre, including Vodafone, Zen Internet, TalkTalk and Giganet.

Customers of the provider can expect to pay from £35.99 per month for an unlimited 100Mbps (symmetric) package with free installation on a 12-month term (currently discounted to £24.99 per month), which rises to £65 (discounted to £49.99) for their top 900Mbps tier.

It’s great to have more choice of CityFibre ISPs up in Scotland. Octaplus are indeed showing up as available in Edinburgh.
In fact, looking at the CityFibre checker, No One and Giganet are now showing as available, in parts of Edinburgh. No One is surprising, because I thought they weren’t expanding to Scotland, in the fear future. I mean over CityFibre; No One seem to sell Openreach UK wide.
As for Giganet, I was expecting this, but not until early next year at the soonest. Indeed, CityFibre seem to have jumped the gun, because only Openreach packages are showing up on the Giganet site.
In new RFS areas, special redirect links from CityFibres availability checker get you a reduced packaged with Octaplus – 900 Mbps for £30pm currently.
They use CGNAT with no IPv6 though. Beware.
Is IPv6 actually important then? I understand why IPv6 was developed but not really the benefits behind it.
Curious as I was about to sign up with Octaplus but a 24 month contract is a long time with ever changing tech!
