Hyperoptic Appoints Ex-Vodafone Leader as Chief Customer Officer

City-focused gigabit broadband ISP Hyperoptic, which is aiming to deploy their “full fibre” (FTTP/B) UK network to cover 2 million premises by the end of 2023 (including 500,000 customers), has appointed ex-Vodafone Consumer Chief, Lutfu Kitapci, to the role of Chief Customer Officer (CCO).

At present the operator’s network can already be found in parts of 64 UK towns and cities (900,000 premises passed), with 250,000 customers connected (greater than 25% penetration rate) and 2,000 staff (up from 230k customers and 1,800 staff in April 2022). Most of their deployments stem from connecting large residential (MDU) and office buildings, but they’re also now tackling individual housing (SDU).

As for Lutfu, he joins from Vodafone Group, and brings more than 20 years of international experience. Lutfu was Vodafone’s Global MD for Smart Tech, bringing innovative customer products to market. He has also held senior leadership roles responsible for driving commercial growth and transformation at Vodafone’s operating companies in the Czech Republic, Turkey, Germany and Ireland.

As Consumer Business Unit chief, Lutfu helped make Vodafone Ireland the fastest growing fixed broadband provider and the leader in Gigabit broadband. Hyperoptic will naturally be hoping he can help do something similar in the UK.
