The Network Technology Director at UK broadband access provider Openreach (BT), Trevor Linney, has been named the winner of the FTTH Europe 2026 Individual Award, which is said to be in recognition of his “remarkable efforts in championing the advancement of FTTH technology in Europe“.
The award, which we accidentally overlooked when covering yesterday’s other award winner (here), was handed out by the FTTH Council Europe during their annual conference in London yesterday. The winner was chosen by a judging panel that consisted of FTTH Council board members, committee chairs, conference and workshop speakers.
Trevor is quite a well known figure within the industry and has been within the BT Group for the best part of nearly 17 years, often working in senior network technology, research and architecture roles. “I’m extremely proud to accept this, but I’m very aware that no one individual builds a national fibre network on their own,” Linney said during his acceptance speech. “This recognition really belongs to the thousands of colleagues at Openreach up and down the country who put their energy, skill and determination into making this happen.”
