APFN Opens Own UK Full Fibre Broadband Network to UK ISP Partners

The AllPoints Fibre Network (APFN), which is a Fern Trading backed wholesale platform that aggregates connectivity from several different UK networks including their own, has this morning announced that they’re opening up access to their own Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband infrastructure (formerly Jurassic Fibre, Giganet and Swish Fibre) to their partner ISPs.

Regular readers will recall that alternative networks Jurassic Fibre, Giganet and Swish Fibre were consolidated into a single full fibre network a few years ago, but then stopped accepting new customers until only a few short months ago. But initially this activity was limited to APFN’s own retail brand ISP Brillband (here), which was last month sold to Olilo (here).

NOTE: APFN says their own on-net full fibre infrastructure covers 370,000 consumer FTTP premises with symmetrical connectivity, although an independent estimate recently put the ready-for-service figure at 300,000 (here). APFN also supplies separate services via Openreach, BTWholesale, CityFibre and Sky Business Wholesale.

The good news today is that APFN, after investing hundreds of millions to build the infrastructure, has finally opened its own full fibre network, which is available across parts of Buckinghamshire, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex and Wiltshire in England, to wholesale partners through its Aquila platform.

The network offers symmetrical speeds alongside integrated ordering, automated provisioning and full in-life service management. For partners already using Aquila, APFN’s own network appears alongside existing wholesale options through the same ordering journey, with no additional integrations or contracts required.

Retail ISP partners Olilo and Onestream, which took on APFN’s old retail customers from Cuckoo and Brillband, are naturally the first to benefit.

Nisreen El-Kaloush, Chief Commercial Officer at APFN, said:

“Our network was built for getting full fibre out to more homes, through partners who know how to sell it. Bringing it onto Aquila means we can do that at speed, without adding any complexity for the partners already using the platform. It’s available through the same platform, the same ordering journey, and the same commercial model as everything else on Aquila. Simplicity will always be our focus.”

Alongside the network launch, APFN has also opened early access to Aquila Pulse, which is described as being a new visibility tool for partners on the platform. Pulse currently offers a network operations map and a service status view, giving partners a self-service way to check on network and service status without needing to contact APFN directly.

Can confirm: 3ms latency from Sussex to London via AFPN’s own access network is nice 🙂
