Several ISPs are reporting that a “Serious Incident” on BT’s network in Scotland (UK) appears to be affecting broadband services for “all providers“. As a result an unspecified number of customers are said to be experiencing a loss of service.
The details remain thin but it’s understood that the bulk of this issue, which began just after 2pm today, is affecting customers in the Edinburgh, Glasgow, Carluke and Dunfermline areas. BT are said to be investigating.
This latest issue follows shortly after last Friday’s outage (here), which caused widespread disruption to broadband customers across the UK. That problem was centred on BT’s Faraday (Hadleigh) telephone exchange, which is incidentally due to be hit by emergency maintenance tonight. The maintenance is part of BT’s efforts to fully resolve the issues which have occurred over the last few weeks and could cause some further performance woes as ISPs adjust their traffic to compensate.
