The small-ish business focused ISP Demon Internet (remember them? Yep, they’re still going) appears to have suffered a significant outage on their broadband service today, which began at around 8am this morning and is currently preventing customers from being able to connect.
The issue was spotted by The Register this afternoon and a quick look at Demon’s Service Status page shows that the problem appears to be on-going, with many customers expressing their frustrations via Twitter. Not that anybody at the ISP will notice, Demon doesn’t appear to care about Twitter since their two streams (https://twitter.com/demonstatus and https://twitter.com/DemonSupport) haven’t been updated for a very long time.

Demon Status Update (12:23pm)
Authentication Issues: Broadband users are currently unable to connect. Our engineers and field engineers continue to work towards restoring services and have isolated the root cause of the issues and are undertaking restoration activities. Please rest assured that this issue is being treated as a major incident and a further update will be available after 13.45.
The issue appears to be affecting the providers links through multiple telephone exchanges across the United Kingdom, although unfortunately they’re not saying precisely what’s gone wrong or offering a clear ETA for when it will be fixed.
UPDATE 2pm
Demon claims the issue is now resolved, but still aren’t saying what happened.
